Comments: I have read the conclusions and agree to the point that any excessive exposure to particulate matter is detrimental to health. I also believe the report also provides data revealing the relatively high number of underlying illnesses such as heart disease in an aging population. O2 uptake efficiency is proportional to mass.

Comments: Congestion is a way of life now and I'm not convinced of your statement saying that. If all those cars were to park, would we have to build bigger parking lots; paving over more potential farmland? Would that extra physical activity eliminate question one? Perhaps it would simply eliminate some folks from eating donuts?....but would that put more people out of work?

Comments: This is a tough question. I have lived and worked in most of the big cities of NA. The congestion in GTA is worse than most. There are few options for ingress and egress. The environmental impact of autos sitting in traffic for hours (see your question re idling) going to work and sitting directly in an atmosphere of pollution (see you question re pollutants) is real........and it's dangerous. I also have a problem with the ownership of the toll roads and the subsequent profits relocating to France (or other).
19. The environmental imperative strongly indicates that we need to reduce our reliance on private vehicles, and to this end we need to question all major road construction projects. As an alternative to the current design of the 407, would you support downgrading the 407 extension to 'as-needed' improvements to the existing road alignments, and widenings only as the specific need is demonstrated?
